Bulletstorm- A Gory Piece of Heaven P.S R.I.P Waggleton P. Tallylicker

Bulletstorm is NOT your basic shooter.

Single player:

Oh yes, Bulletstorm, Epic’s attempt to make up for pushing back Gears Of War 3 was released 3 days ago. This game is highly addictive. The game starts out with a hostage situation, then you get to control a drunken Greyson Hunt as he makes his way to the deck of his small fighter. Also aboard are the other members of Dead Echo, and elite squad turned space pirate. So enough out of revenge and clouded by his intoxication, Hunt takes on the Ulysses, an epic warship captained by Serrano, the man Greyson has sworn to kill. His attempt is feeble, but they manage to bring the collossus down with them. They crash on the planet of Stygia.  Greyson awakes from a memory-like dream that explains why Dead Echo went rogue. Upon waking Greyson finds that his comerade Ishi had been critically wounded in the crash. Greyson and Rell are tasked with finding parts to fix Ishi’s body. After finding the dropship you get a cool cutscene of a member of Final Echo taking on numerous Mooks….. then he gets crushed…. by a tumbling car. This is how Greyson obtains his leash. Once back at the ship the other members of Dead Echo are killed(save for Ishi) and the ship explodes from an overload. This is just the beginning. Skillshots aren’t unlocked until you access the first dropkit, and once you do the REAL fun begins. Not to mention the awesome overly profane dialogue, and the pure cinematic beauty of the game play. The game does seem to get repetitive later, but the all-out action and the amount of different things happening on screen at once tend to take your mind off of the limited amount of Skillshots(about 101). The villain is all that you’d believe a villain should be: evil, manipulative and swears like an angry sailor, in pain, after he lost a poker game, to a woman.

The multiplayer:

There is one rule I’d have to point out for this: HAVE A MICROPHONE. The first match I played went great. We all had mics, were able to coordinate team skillshots, completed challenges, we made it to Wave 16( the host had to go to work -_-). Every game I played after that sucked. Nobody had mics and they all play for their own glory. I especially hate the douchebags who don’t do the challenges and just kill things. I mean it doesn’t matter in the first couple of waves, but eventually you can’t pass if you don’t pull off all of the challenges you can guarantee yourself that you will play the same round again, and again, and again.

Other than that, the multiplayer is very fun, especially when you activate the Blood Symphony mode. While in this mode anything you kick, (and hit) will become an instant bloody pulp. There are more skillshots which aren’t present in the single player. They also made an allusion to Halo: Reach by adding a “Yoink” skillshot.

Overall:

I love this game, it appeals to my most basic instincts and allows me to be the greatest serial killer ever, without actually having to kill real things. SO in my opinion if you’re a fan of games that glorify massive violence, or if you like games that you can play loud heavy metal to, buy Bulletstorm. It won’t dissappoint.
